I keep hearing the Austin is located in the “Texas Hill Country.” It is slightly hilly, but less so than the “Los Angeles Basin.” I suppose it’s a difference in perception between a state that’s mostly flat and a state that’s full of mountains that reach more than two miles above sea level.

A guy hiking up the hill from a lake to the parking lot in VT once told my parents that “if you flattened out the state of Vermont, it would be bigger than the state of Texas.” Sounds like it might be true. I’ve only ever been in the Texas Panhandle area and it is totally flat.
