One of the great (mostly) unsolved problems of the web is color management. When I prepare a color photo for the web, I embed a color profile in it, but most web browsers ignore that profile and do their own thing. This can lead to some very ugly results. Consider the photo I uploaded of a fountain, for example: when seen in Safari (which handles color correctly), the photo looks the way it’s supposed to. When seen in Firefox, it takes on an ugly green cast that looks like fluorescent lighting.
Naturally this doesn’t exactly encourage me to put color photos on my site!
